February update

Hey all, I know it’s been a month since I last posted, so I figured I’d write this to keep you all in the loop. Basically, the reason why I’ve been slow to post stuff is twofold: I’ve been busy with work, and I’ve frankly hadn’t had anything in mind to talk about. Having said that, I have been looking into and planning future trips. Right now everything depends if I get tickets to any of the three World Cup games I applied for (fingers crossed!); I’d obviously need to plan around the inevitable madness that June and July would bring.

First of all, I’m planning to take advantage of the fact that in Russia, there are quite a few holidays. They aren’t super long-at best they offer an extended weekend-but I want to utilize them the best I can. Right now, the plan is to travel around Russia before the World Cup/price gouging occurs. On the top of the bucket list are the cities of Khanty-Mansiysk and Kazan. I know, with the former you’re thinking “where?”. That’s a fair question, but Khanty-Mansiysk is the capital of the suitably titled Khanty-Mansy Autonomous Okrug, which is about a two hour flight away from Moscow. Plus, UT Air, being based out of K-M, is offering some sales for tickets! Never hurts, right? Going to Kazan, to sound like a broken record, is somewhere I’m pushing to visit. While I have a friend from there who’s offered to drive me, I want to see if it’s worth it to take the train or to fly. Everything just depends on my work schedule, but hopefully I’ll be able to see more of the world’s biggest country!
